All rules are strictly enforced for your safety.
I. State law requires that hunters
have a valid Illinois hunting license and wear a blaze
orange hat at all times in the field.
II. Stay on paths as much as possible;
let the dog work.
III. Birds must be shot in the air,
not on the ground.
IV. If a bird flushes at your feet,
give it a chance to get out to a sporting distance before
shooting.
V. Bird hunting is for bird hunting.
Do not shoot at other game.
VI. Avoid any low shots that could
wound a dog or another hunter.
VII. Alcohol is strictly prohibited
in, or before entering, the field. Guns and booze do
not mix.
VIII. No shot larger than #6 may be
used. Non-toxic shot is encouraged, though not required.
IX. Finally, talk about my spouse,
my gun or my shooting, but don’t talk bad about
my dog.
